Benefits of the corset
The Helios Corset Vest is often chosen because the user has poor head control and normally sits back with a curved spine and backward tilted pelvis and requires a head support that is fixed securely onto the corset. The Helios Cervical Collar can also be mounted onto the corset.
The Helios Corset Vest supports the user from the pelvis to the upper section of the truncus and helps prevent scoliosis. The corset often provides an extension of the truncus (spine) of around 15-20%. The user is therefore often able to release his or her arms and hands from the wheelchair armrest, etc., thus enabling them to use their arms more actively.
